Amelia Bullen - New hand therapist

6 Nov 2025

Meet our newest team member at Habit Health! With years of international experience and a passion for helping people regain function and confidence after hand or upper limb injuries, she’s bringing both expertise and enthusiasm to the team.

We’re excited to welcome Amelia to the Habit Health team. After several years working in the UK, she’s now bringing her skills, energy, and love for helping others to our clients here in Aotearoa. We sat down with her to chat about her journey, what she loves about hand therapy, and a few fun facts along the way.

How long have you been working in hand therapy, and what’s your career journey been like so far?

I’ve recently joined Habit Health this October. Before this, I was working in the UK as a Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) for four years, gaining experience across a broad range of areas including Hand Trauma, Neurological Rehab, and Acute Medicine (A&E).

What do you love most about helping people with hand or upper limb injuries?

The hand is the visible part of our brain. I love working with clients after an injury and helping them get back to doing what they love most — whether that’s gym or sport, art or music. Seeing them reach those goals is what it’s all about!

What’s something you’re most excited to work on at Habit Health?

I’m excited to be part of such an experienced team within Habit Health and to make the most of the fantastic facilities we have here. It’s great to be able to support our clients to reach their full potential.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone recovering from a hand or wrist injury?

Don’t put it off! If something doesn’t feel right, come and see us — get it checked and treated. Rest is your best friend; when in doubt, REST!

If you could master one new skill overnight, what would it be?

I’d love to be able to speak lots of different languages. It’s such an amazing skill to be multilingual!

Coffee or tea? Early bird or night owl?

I’m a coffee girl at heart — flat whites are the best! But being from the UK, I’ll never say no to a good cup of tea. I’ve also recently become an early bird; I love catching the sunrise here in NZ.
